Prof. Shermon Cruz is the founder, Director and lead instructor/facilitator of the Center for Engaged Foresight, a futures-thinking and strategic foresight innovation hub in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific. A professional futurist, he has collaborated with the best in the futures and strategic foresight field in designing transformative and cutting edge events and projects that integrate creativity, experimentation and innovation like the UNESCO Foresight Section, UNICEF, the UNESCO Human and Social Sciences, UNESCO Philippines, UNESCO Bangkok, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies, University of Houston, Tamkang University, Teach the Future, Finland Futures Academy, the World Futures Studies Federation and the Asia Pacific Futures Network to name a few. He served as a senior consultant on futures thinking and futures literacy for UNESCO and UNICEF and former Director of the Philippine Center for Foresight Education and Innovation Research at Northwestern University. He has partnered with governments, non-governments organizations, academe and international non-government and government agencies to advance and integrate futures thinking and strategic foresight in business, education, risk and resilience, city futures, public policy and governance.
A co-founder of the Asia Pacific Futures Network, Prof. Cruz is a member of the Association of Professional Futurist (APF) and the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF). He was a recipient of the 2014 International Social Science Council and the World Social Science Forum Early Career Social Scientists from the Global South.
He has served as a policy researcher and consultant to the local legislative body and executive assistant to the Governor of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte. He has taught political science, public administration and futures studies in the graduate and undergraduate schools of Northwestern University and Northern Christian College, Philippines.
